Spotlight on New Members

Saffura

“Joining Melbourne Women’s Foundation as a member unites my passion for social justice – honed from my upbringing in Kashmir and my work with nonprofits (currently CARE Australia) – with a commitment to making a local community impact in Melbourne.

The Foundation’s focus on democratized giving and supporting women in vulnerable circumstances deeply resonates with me, seamlessly bridging my efforts from global to local.

It offers a unique opportunity not only to contribute closer to home but also to connect with like-minded individuals dedicated to creating a world where equity, opportunity, and justice are accessible to all.”

“My job at Leadership Victoria is to develop, connect and inspire leaders across Victoria to contribute to community, and it’s important to me to walk that talk myself as well.

So, I joined the Melbourne Women’s Foundation to make a direct contribution (both money and volunteering time) to a cause that is very close to my heart – investing in the wellbeing of women and girls.

My membership also gives me the opportunity to build connections and collaborate with a network of like-minded women in my local Melbourne community.

I have a deep belief in the power of collective action, and actively encouraging people to think about how they can contribute to the greater good, and Melbourne Women’s Foundation is a great platform for both those things.”

‘I joined the Melbourne Women’s Foundation to expand my understanding of and involvement in philanthropy.

Firstly, to be able to support and grow my own charitable fund and more broadly be an advocate for philanthropy in my network of family, friends and business connections’.

I think philanthropy is an important opportunity for people, no matter their financial circumstances, to be involved in their community and support causes that are meaningful to them.’
