Winner of the Inaugural Sue Beecher Award Announced

Congratulations to Amanda Thornton for being the inaugural winner of the Sue Beecher Memorial Award in recognition for her outstanding contribution and exemplary leadership given to Melbourne Women’s Fund.

MWF was honoured to host Sue’s husband Eric and one of her children, Sophie, seen here presenting the award to Amanda.

Amanda has served on our Grants Committee for five years, first as a committee member then as Co-Deputy Chair then Co-Chair. In that time, she has been instrumental in driving the design and implementation of our grants process to make it best practice. Proactively aware of philanthropic issues, open-minded and technically savvy, she has conscientiously and considerately led the Grants Committee in not only selecting the most suitable candidates for our members to vote on annually, but also in undertaking innovative ways to support submitting non-profits’ capabilities in the process.

Amanda is National Manager Partnerships at Stroke Foundation. In 2019, she joined the board of Women and Mentoring (WAM) after being introduced to their work through MWF.

Congratulations, Amanda!
