Melbourne Women’s Foundation (MWF) is seeking passionate, experienced and values-aligned women to join our voluntary Board.
As we deliver our 2026–2029 Strategy, we are looking for women who will help strengthen our governance, steward our resources responsibly, and support a thriving community of members, volunteers and partners committed to creating lasting social impact.

Melbourne Women’s Foundation is a membership-based giving circle that makes philanthropy personal, collective and accessible.
Our members pool their giving into a shared grants fund and participate in learning, connection and grantmaking that strengthens social purpose organisations walking alongside women and their families experiencing vulnerability.
We do not deliver frontline services ourselves. Instead, we invest in organisations creating positive change across Greater Melbourne while building an informed and connected community of women who want to make a difference through collective giving.

About the opportunities
Treasurer and Chair, Finance and Risk Committee
This voluntary Board leadership role provides strategic oversight of Melbourne Women’s Foundation’s financial sustainability, governance and accountability.
Working closely with the Board Chair, Board Directors and Finance and Risk Committee, the Treasurer helps ensure sound financial stewardship, effective risk management and informed Board decision-making.
Key responsibilities include:
Board Director – Finance
This voluntary Board Director role supports the day-to-day financial management and administration of Melbourne Women’s Foundation.
Working collaboratively with the Treasurer, the role contributes to accurate financial reporting, budgeting, financial administration and the effective operation of the Finance and Risk Committee.

We are also seeking experienced women to join our Board and contribute to MWF’s governance, strategy and long-term sustainability.
Board Directors work collaboratively to guide organisational direction, oversee performance and ensure MWF remains values-led, financially responsible and focused on its purpose.
We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:

Across all Board roles, we are looking for women who bring:
For the Treasurer and Board Director – Finance roles, we are also seeking experience in finance, accounting, bookkeeping, audit or financial management.
Women who can contribute specialist expertise and are committed to good governance are encouraged to apply.
Applicants must be current MWF members or willing to become members. A current Police Check is required for all appointments.

Time commitment
Board Directors attend regular Board meetings, contribute to strategic discussions and participate in MWF events and activities.
The Treasurer also chairs the Finance and Risk Committee.
The Board Director – Finance undertakes ongoing financial administration between Board meetings in collaboration with the Treasurer.
